Nokia Technologies is looking for a Principal SW Engineer, VR Applications

Presence Capture program in Nokia Technologies, Digital Media unit is building a new category of virtual reality capture and playback solutions. The first product developed by Presence Capture is OZO - the first commercially available Virtual Reality camera designed and built for professional content creators.

We are looking for Principal SW Engineer, VR Applications to join our team based in Finland.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Application development, deployment and testing on Mac and Windows

  • Designing, developing and testing SW components for audiovisual media processing and playback

  • UI development using the Qt Framework and OpenGL

  • Independent and self-driven problem solving in this technical domain

For this role, your key qualifications are:

  • Excellent SW development skills with proven experience in Mac and/or Windows application development

  • Extensive experience in C++

  • Proven experience in using the Qt Framework and QML

  • Solid knowledge of OpenGL and GLSL

  • Familiarity with common SW development tools and processes

  • BSc or higher level education in a relevant field of engineering

The following would be considered a significant advantage for you:

  • Good knowledge of OpenCL and/or CUDA

​* Good knowledge of Direct3D and HLSL

  • Experience in utilising multimedia frameworks such as FFMPEG, Video Toolbox or Media Foundation

  • Familiarity with audio and video codecs, containers, and multimedia streaming technologies

  • Experience in using media editing/processing applications, such as Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, Pro Tools, Reaper or Final Cut Pro)

Additionally, we would expect a successful candidate to have:

  • Characteristics of a great team player with ability and eagerness to work in a cross-functional team.

  • Fluent written and spoken conduct in English.
